Zaporizhzhia Preamp
Vox Distortion reimagined with NOS parts & sonic control
Description
Zaporizhzhia Preamp is our take on the vintage Vox Distortion circuit which is a variation of MXR Distortion+ and DOD 250 Preamp. However, it's not just a clone, but an improved version using NOS (new old stock) and high-quality components with mods: bass/treble tilt control, six clipping options, and four op-amps.
Controls
- Drive - the amount of gain.
- Tilt - controls the balance between bass and treble.
- Level - effect output volume.
- Op-amp rotary - changes the op-amp: 741 (NOS ULY7741 CEMI made in Poland), FL351, UD1408 (Soviet LM308 clone), TL082 (NOS TFK).
- Clipping rotary - Boost (no diodes, similar to MXR Micro Amp), LED, Si (pair of BAV20), Ge (NOS AAP-153), Ge Tran (NOS MP37B germanium transistors), MOS (BS170/2N7002 MOSFET transistors).
- LED brightness trimmer - placed on the PCB trimmer allows you to adjust the status LED brightness.
