Description
Drunk Beaver Trainer is Traynor™️ TS-15 MK2 (solid-state amp) preamp section in a pedal format. I've used an exact schematic of the original amp with a very cool distortion texture. The preamp runs at +-15V using a standard 9V power supply (don't try to feed the pedal with a power supply higher than 9V; this will damage the electronics). The higher voltage provides more dynamics and headroom (approximately 30V amplitude, for example, Klon has approximately 27V). The preamp could be used before another amp or directly into the power amp section (for example, FX loop return input).
Controls
- Gain - the level of drive.
- Bass - controls the bass frequency response.
- Treble - controls the treble frequency response.
- Master - effect output level.
- EQ toggle - switches EQ between two revisions: ISS4 (same as our first version of TS-15) and ISS6 (less bassy)
- Input toggle - Low (-6dB) or Normal (0dB) input switch.
- LED brightness trimmer - placed on the PCB, the trimmer allows you to adjust the brightness of the status LED.
About the name
Traynor TS-15 solid-state unassuming combo was a popular small practice amp, and our pedal meticulously captures the unique character of its preamp circuit. We named it the "Trainer" as a nod to both the original's brand name and its role as an excellent tool for practice, delivering the distinct and gritty tones of the vintage TS-15 amp in a compact pedal format.
Power supply
Power Supply: 9V DC adapter (Boss-style negative center) not included. No batteries. They are bad for the environment 🌲.
Don't try to power the pedal with voltages higher than 9V - this will damage the electronics. The pedal uses a chip to run the circuit on +-15V.
Voltage: 9V
Current draw: 18.0 mA
