Kavun MOS Drive

Discrete MOS op-amp OD with Mostortion's EQ

$175.00

Description

Kavun MOS Drive takes the foundational EQ of the Ibanez Mostortion and builds a totally new, unique overdrive experience. Unlike its inspiration, the Kavun MOS Drive uses a discrete MOSFET op-amp and input buffer. This custom op-amp works in tandem with asymmetrical Germanium diodes and a MOS transistor to create a highly distinctive overdrive texture you won't find anywhere else. The result is a pedal that delivers everything from transparent, dynamic boost to a rich, harmonically complex drive, all while retaining a familiar and powerful EQ section.

Controls

  • Drive - gain level.
  • Level - output volume.
  • 3-band EQ - passive Bass/Mids/Treble EQ, bands are interconnected like in a guitar amp EQ.
  • LED brightness trimmer - placed on the PCB, the trimmer allows you to adjust the status LED brightness.

About the name

The "Kavun MOS Drive" is a pedal with a rich story, inspired by our friend, the Kyiv-based guitarist and teacher known as Denys "Topor" (Axe) Toporchuk. He frequently uses a Kharkiv CMOStortion pedal, which forms the foundation of this circuit. The name "Kavun," which is Ukrainian for watermelon, comes directly from his band's (Pivas) single, "I want a watermelon" (Хочу кавуна). This name also pays tribute to the Kherson region, which is famously symbolized by its watermelons, a registered national brand and a powerful emblem of the region's identity and fortitude.
