Fat Bat

Japanese Rat variants in a box, enabling expansive sonic exploration

Estimated availability: June 2024

Fat BAT is our take on Ibanez FC10 Fat Cat circuit with the ability to enter Ibanez LA Metal and Fat Rat territory. We've used NOS (new old stock) NE5534 and NOS 741 operational amplifiers. You can explore different voicing selecting between 6 clipping options: red LEDs (like Turbo Rat), LA (op-amp clipping - very loud), NOS Soviet D9 Germanium diodes (similar to Your Dirty Rat), Si 1N914 diodes (same as classic Fat Cat), soft (op-amp feedback loop), Si BAT85, Fat Rat style BS170 MOSFET and Si 1N914.

  • Distortion - the amount of drive.
  • Tone - controls treble frequency response.
  • Volume - effect output level.
  • Op-Amp switch - a selection of two chips: FC/LA (NE5534) and BAT (741).
  • Mode switch - 6 clipping modes selection: LED, LA Metal, Ge, Fat Cat, BAT, Fat Rat.
  • Fat switch - allows selecting bass level from 3 options: LA (LA Metal), FC (Fat Cat), and RF (Fat Rat).
  • LED brightness trimmer - placed on the PCB trimmer allows you to adjust the status LED brightness.
