Taras Bulba MK2

Step into the realm of vintage fuzz with a modern twist

Taras Bulba is our take on the classic Germanium Tone Bender MK2 circuit, now available in its second version. The circuit has been completely revised, and we have added modern features to this vintage fuzz pedal.

One of the new features is a switchable pickups simulator with a buffer, which allows you to use the pedal with modern guitar pickups and place the effect anywhere in your pedalboard. The pedal has a single external Bias potentiometer, but the MK1.5 and MK2 modes are biased separately internally. This means you can easily switch between modes and adjust the bias to achieve different tones.

We have also added a Hi-Cut tone control that enables you to shape the sound to fit your mix. Additionally, the pedal features a Velcro potentiometer that allows you to dial the transistor stages' feedback, resulting in a gated sound, also known as the velcro sound. We've also added a new full-frequency boost on the output, which gives your tone an extra kick and ensures that it cuts through any mix. Whether you're playing on stage or in the studio, Taras Bulba v2 will deliver the sound you're looking for.

To ensure the best possible sound, we have used only the highest quality components, including NOS Germanium transistors from 70s-80s. Taras Bulba V2 delivers vintage fuzz tones with modern features, making it the perfect addition to any guitarist's arsenal.

  • Attack - gain control.
  • Bias - varies 2nd stage transistor biasing affecting sound midrange and .
  • Hi-Cut - tone shaping, it uses a lowpass filter to reduce high frequencies.
  • Volume - effect output level.
  • Impedance - controls the signal impedance when the pickup simulator is enabled, allowing you to adjust the interaction between your guitar and the pedal and fine-tune your tone.
  • Velcro - controls the amount of feedback between transistor stages, enabling you to achieve a gated, velcro-like sound.
  • Mode toggle - switches between MK2 and MK1.5 circuits. The MK2 circuit, which has more gain and aggression and is reminiscent of the classic Tone Bender MK2, and the MK1.5 circuit, which has a character more similar to the Fuzz Face.
  • PU Sim toggle - switches pickup simulator. When the PU Sim toggle is off, the buffer and impedance pot are also bypassed, giving you a classic effect that is sensitive to the input signal and any other pedals in your chain.
