Description

Irpin Bee Baa is a revolutionary take on the legendary Roland AF-100 Bee Baa fuzz, featuring complete separation of the Boost and Fuzz effects — a crucial upgrade from the original coupled design. This unit utilizes a sophisticated switching system powered by a microcontroller and signal relays, enabling five unique functions via two soft footswitches. The Right Footswitch toggles Boost, while a long press activates both Boost and Fuzz. The Left Footswitch toggles the Fuzz independently (impossible on the original), and controls the Fuzz EQ with a long press (Flat/Scooped toggle) or double-press (Mixed EQ). Dual bicolor LEDs clearly indicate the effect status (Red/Blue/Purple for Boost/Fuzz/Both) and the EQ mode (Red/Blue/Purple for Flat/Scooped/Mixed). Inside, the tone is driven by select NOS Japanese transistors: a Sanyo 2SD1450 for the boost and two Matsushita 2SD1330s for the fuzz stages.

Controls

Boost - the output level of the boost circuit.
Sustain - the gain (intensity) of the fuzz circuit.
Tone - shapes the frequency response of the fuzz.
Volume - the overall output level of the fuzz circuit.

Right Footswitch:

Short press - toggles the Boost effect on or off.
Long press - toggles both the Boost and Fuzz effects on or off simultaneously.

Left Footswitch:

Short press - toggles the Fuzz effect on or off (allows Fuzz to be engaged independently of the Boost).
Long press - toggles the Fuzz EQ Mode between Flat and Mid Scooped settings.
Double press - selects the Mixed EQ Mode (combines Flat and Scooped responses).
